Thats what I was thinking. The civic didn't exactly hang with the vette. Maybe its just me or did the vette put a bus length on the civic in some of those races. And I'm pretty sure that the times they were even they were just cruising. Can't tell for certain because my sound isnt working.

A nicely done K20 can be had for about 8-10k.....in the EG body, they drop high 11s N/A....
Quick little buggers for sure.

I bet that z06 is very lightly modded. Its sounds like an exhaust only car running against a modded to shit civic.

It was fast and it hung around for a few seconds but it wasnt fast enough to win.

At a recent car show I found a civic with one of these swaps, with drag radials and they were hitting high elevens. We talked to the guys that owned it and they were running on stock tranny and rear tires. He revved it up for us and it hurt my ears. It wasnt a sweet smooth engine sound it was an annnoying wail. yuck yuck yuck!

These are cars are stripped down and weight absolutely nothing. It is all about Hp vs weight. These cars have a total of a wopping 250 fwhp but weight in at 2100 lbs. My lawn mower would be fast also. What about having an interior and heat and maybe a seat for your girl!! Let's face, you are not getting any action in a sh&t box. Hey, I am all about speed also but ,come on...it it nice to have a vehicle that is for humans and not dogs. Those things are like tin cans. Have any of you ever drove in a Civic. Try it one time! However, to each his own. I like knowing that my car is
1. descently fast
2. can either race or be brought to a show
3. nice enough to impress a girl (possibly use the back seat for a quickie
4. last for over 200K. (Do you think that Crap Box revving like that will last long?)

....and the list goes on and on!!!

Some people dont care about apperances..For what i bought my Mach1 for, 20k, if i ONLY wanted performance 10k in my Escort would give me 11's...i spent 20k for a Mach1 to run 13's.

If all you care about is how fast you can go in a line you can take a mid 90's civic or late 90's escort to 11-12's for less then the cost to buy a 99-01 Cobra.


It depends on what you want and can afford...Its like me calling you a dumbass for liking 80's rock, pure opinion. There are quite a few i4's out there that would KILL Evolutions GT500 at the track and spent a lot less doing it.

I'm pretty sure i gave the civic credit when i said it was fast in 2 different post.

Yeah once, as none of the supporting hardware is made to handle any sort of power.

I am not, and will continue to not be impressed by the vast majority of these Honda swaps. Some are done very well, and are very fast. Not very many, but some of these guys do know what they are doing and do it right. I give props to them.

For myself, I've been behind about 15 too many Honda "race" cars at the track, getting pushed up to the lights or dragging water up to the line, and polluting the air with horrendous racket and shitty engine noise only to run a low 13 or blow something up 50 feet out, while continuing to roll down the track necessitating an hour long full track clean up.

No thank you, you can keep 'em. In general, annoying shits.

And people, don't come at me with the "there's 10 second Hondas all over my town" bullshit. I'm sure there is. There always is some town somewhere full of 10 second Civics. But so far, I can tell you it ain't in Northern California, Washington state, Colorado, or Oregon.

I do not like the hondas at all, but the kids these days make them and build them to do one thing, AND thing only, "go fast"(one that are actually done with right swaps). Whats fast to someone, might not be fast to others really but IMHO high 11s is fast no matter what motor is under the hood.

umm... since when do bolt-on K20's make 250whp? Oh.. and 2100 raceweight is more than a tad optimistic even for a gutted bubble w/ that swap.

250whp maybe for a k24/k20z headed car w/ full boltons/ MAAAAAYYYBBBEEE... shit the N/A aftermarket for S2000 motors barely put them at 270whp with a ITB setup albeit a much more agressively tuned factory motor.

Normally a K20 swap in a full interior hatch w/ exhaust and intake would run a low 13 on a street tire. 12 second car on a slick. 11's isn't really normal for that kinda N/A swap.

I raced a 320whp hatch that weighed in @ 2400 lbs in my 365rwhp LX and I can confidently say I wouldn't be afraid to run any N/A 250whp K20 civic at that same weight.

Damn!... I might have to pick one up than and find out myself .. Is it hard to do gsr/b16 swaps in hatchs if you don't know much about hondas? Could it be done under like 3K?
