Speaking of wishy washy idiots... :bash: 40k trucks is hardly the 90k number that it has been...but I bet you would rather Ford keep building trucks just to sit on dealers lots...then have to throw money on them to sell...but that's a stupid idea too. Or it's better to shut down a plant for 2 months because the vehicles they make don't sell...good idea too eh? Industry analysts have said for a couple years that $4 a gallon of gas would be the "breaking point" for many consumers. At that price, many consumers would really start abandoning the idea of driving a big impractical (for the typical buyer) truck that gets mid-teen fuel economy at best for gas economical vehicles....whether hybrids, Fusions, or even small SUV's (Escapes for example). The folks that need trucks will buy them, but gone are the days of people buying $50k King Ranch F350's w/ Diesels or V10's just because they can look cool. Ford is only making the changes they need to be competitive with the rest of the world. If axing a big truck engine will do the trick, I'm all for it. Lets keep in mind that Ford will build what the market demands. If nobody wants trucks, Ford will scale back truck production and build cars. See the other news about the new cars coming that are the TOP sellers in Europe. Lets also keep in mind that Ford has been building cars/trucks since before any of us were around. I bet they have a good chance of making the necessary changes to turn the company around.
Well said RY_Trapp0 Black86 seems to be angry that Ford Isn't listening to "him". In reality they are responding to what the vast majority is actually buying. If Ford listened to every whiner who is looking for their dream car they would have been out of business long ago. Personally the GT500 would be my only choice of performance car Ford makes. For a daily driver I have no problem scooting around in an econobox with a 12000 watt motor. The Cobra comes out of the barn when it's time to play. This thread has become a sticky by default (we are coming up on it's second anniversary). I guess the Latest Boss info is there won't be one. I didn't read all 47 pages so I may be mistaken.
Hmmm, the F-150 is still Ford's best selling vehicle, I guess you think you know better thananyone what people want, and I'm sorry I mistook this place for a Ford performance website..:nonono: Talk about blinders...
You have no idea what I want, so don't pretend you do, I want them to make the changes that the truck needs, that's all, no need to get your panties in a bunch. Yes, cutting a superior engine that the SD's and the F-150 need is a "good idea", not everybody is looking for little econoboxes. I'm well aware of Ford's plans to produce small Euro cars here and I've been a huge proponent of it for years, what you don't get it that having all these small high FE cars gives Ford enough wiggle room on CAFE to sell big powerful truck engines to those that want/need them. Yes, and for years they have been behind the comp in powertrains, something the best truck shouldn't be behind in.
Are you kidding? A huge, huge, huge percentage of F-series sales are from work vehicles. Newsflash, you can't substitute a Focus for an F-250 if you run a construction site. They will always sell a huge number. But there's a reason several passenger cars have now passed it because people buying it for personal use are downsizing. Please think you before you type. 90k to 40k is more than a drop. It's falling off a cliff. So go somewhere else. You have no idea what they plan on doing about it, so shut it. Oh boo hoo hoo, some guy on the internet said they might delay some car I wasn't going to buy anyways.
You'd be wise to educate yourself before sounding like an ass, many many people have been waiting for the 6.2 for a long time, as the 5.4 in the F-150 is a dog. You're making the mistake of assuming what you want is what everybody else wants, I wouldn't consider a competitive top motor in a truck a "dream car". :rollseyes It's sad to see them lose those sales, and throw away who knows how many millions and years of development in a knee jerk reaction. Neither do I, but why do you need a cobra? Who "needs" all that power? why should Ford cater to people like you who just want to do burnouts???:rollseyes I guess there was no interest, most threads last ten years and a thousand pages..
So what do you think they should do? Just give up on making improvements to them? 40k is still far more than any other vehicle they sell. Why don't YOU? You can't seem to handle ANY criticism of anything Ford does, you admit you don't work for them, you just have friends who do, so why do you care? I'm a Ford nut and I want them to kick ass, not continually back out of promises and leave people hanging. I can't see how any Ford fan could not be pissed about this whole Hurricane/Boss episode. Delay? Where's that gen 3 L? Or the Adrenaline? Can you read minds? Can you tell us the lottery numbers since you know what vehicle I was planning on buying?
Did you miss the whole point of what I just said? They sell a huge amount of trucks as work vehicles. These are corporate vehicles, many of which are 25k strippers, not Billy Bobs looking for more power. Because I know shit. I have value to add to the discussion. I can get answers to questions. That's why. I don't come to this site to cry like a bitch about everything Ford does, drive old ass cars, and continually whine that they don't build 100 different 500 hp cars with giant displacement engines. Who the **** cares? It's a stupid engine program that was poorly named and was destined for a limited number of vehicles. The notion that this engine was the future of Ford performance was a total ****ing myth. End of story. Like I said, you don't know shit about what's really going on. I'll leave it at that. The Gen 3 L would have been a disaster, which is why it remained a concept car, not a real vehicle program that ever got off the launching pad. Anyone that thinks a 500hp truck that weighs 5000+ lbs would have been a success is an idiot. It doesn't even take conjecture. The Dodge SRT-10 Ram was a failure of epic proportions, and that was before gas doubled. What do you own right now? You see, the thing is, the vast majority of this site talks a big game with their mouth but their wallet scurries off and hides when it comes to writing checks. It's weird, maybe it's something in the water, but whatever comes out has something wrong with it, and whatever doesn't come out is "oh I would have bought that". Luckily for Ford, for all the shit people have talked about the GT500, the people that count have spend hundreds of millions buying them for 3 years while the glorious Terminator sat on dealer lots in packs of 10 after year one.
Fourcam, any updates you can share on future of a Boss 302 Mustang with the revised 5.0L modular? I know much of the talk lately has focused on the H/Boss engine and it's application in the trucks however it was confirmed several months ago that the H/Boss engine was NOT coming to the Mustang in either 5.8L or 6.2L form. While trucks are an important part of Ford's DNA, I'm selfishly interested in the Boss Mustang.
Straight from the new Hero Cards... LT/L99/Auto/400hp/395lb-ft...3750 SS/LS3/Manual/422hp/408lb-ft...3860
are you talking about the camaro? the 110lbs will take you from the 290hp v6 to the 422hp v8 and all the surounding hardware to support and stiffen the drivetrain/chasis to make it a performance car.
A lot of programs are on the back burner right now for obvious reasons, I think that would be one of them.
I'm not sure what year news papers you've been reading lately if you haven't noticed the going rate for gasoline is close to $5 a gallon and climbing. Ford is shutting down truck and SUV factories and will be converting the excess capacity over to produce more fuel efficient car production. They are delaying the production of 2009 model F150's until the dealers can deplete the stock of 08's languishing on the lot. Add to their misery the fact that they are hemorrhaging capital and could go belly-up if they can turn things around in a few years. And you think they should tool-up to produce an F150 with a hot rod 6.2? We should all be grateful you’re not running the company. Your posts read like they have been pen'd by an 12 year old.
The v6 is 300/273 After looking a little more closely, I think the LT only comes in a v6 and the SS/auto is the L99 and the SS/manual is the LS3... Sorry for any confusion... LT/auto...3750 LT/manual...3741 LS/auto...3769 LS/manual...3780 SS/auto...3913 SS/manual...3860
Likewise, you talk as if the 5.4 is some sort of fuel sipper, it just makes no sense to spend years developing an all new V8 only to can it at the last second. I guess you're driving a Tata or something due to gas prices then..:rollseyes Excuse me? Now you're gonna throw in some insults as well? We can all see who the 12year old is, grow up, or you can drive down to LB and we'll talk about it.op:
Thanks Andy, I've been saving my pennies for a new Boss 302 in '10 or '11 - I sure hope Ford doesn't let me down.
Insults. Perhaps you recall writing this: "You'd be wise to educate yourself before sounding like an ass" If you go back and read your post you will see you boxing with everybody. There is very little intelligent insights to be gained reading your posts. Your mostly flame. I've just added you to my "do not read nor respond to this person's posts" list.......... Good bye
With Chebbie canceling the Z28, is MOPAR next to start axing things? Shades of the '70's... :nonono: Jeff
