why is everyone scared of miles?

not everyone is scared of miles - my philosophy is: the more miles, the more smiles! what kind of fun is keeping a statue in your garage? I buy cars to drive.

also I agree with what's been said about how even a higher mile engine can be "healthier" than a lower mileage one. (of course, this does not apply to paint, seats, or other parts of the car.)

my 36k terminator burns oil on startup due to brittle valve stems seals, probably from sitting in storage most of its life. whereas my 116k car, which I bought new and drove daily, doesn't burn a drop.

I own an 08gt500 bought her new in 07. Now have 74k kms and enjoy every mile/km. I just cannot understand why people buy something and seldom use. I would never be able to justify spending $$ and not using said item. Reminds me of a friend saying, he hoped to marry a virgin and would only screw her once a week, so she would always be tight. Unknown to him, she enjoyed sex so much, she was screwing his friends. LOL He never noticed the difference and thought he was in heaven. She left him 2 years later telling people that her ex husband was asexual.

If you have a relatively late model garage queen, the only person that will appreciate it will be it's next owner. If you own it, drive it.

My 02 z28 had low miles...like 39k. I'd rather rack up 50+ a day on a beater 4cyl. Wouldn't evenryeone?

Even with 39k though that car was beat. 3 clutches. 1 rebuilt trans (I like to power shift). 2 10bolts as the car lived on mickeys and I bought them super cheap. I traded the car in returned bone stock to a dealer. I always think of that...+ another 75k of beating on it for a normal mileage car.

not driving a car that was meant to be driven, is like having a really hot girlfriend.... but you don't want to have sex with her because you want the next owner to enjoy it more....

1) Not everyone enjoys the hobby the same way.
2) You don't know everyone's circumstances.
3) See #1 and #2.

Agreed! My situation, as everyone's, is unique. Do I DD my Cobra, no. I didn't buy it as a commuter car. Do I road trip it, yes! It is worth miles of smiles and while I am just approaching 3 months of ownership I've put almost 3k miles on it and enjoyed two car shows and one C&C. Will it see 1K miles/month on average, unlikely, but it will be thoroughly enjoyed. Couldn't care less how many are on it in 10 years as I have no plans on letting it go.

I really need to drive mine. It hasn't even been driven in over 4 months. Not that I'm saving it, just no time due schedules and obligations. Weather here this time of year also plays a part.

Yeah, lol, my car is a tight hot virgin! That sure sounds awful...

Why would anyone want that when they can have a ragged out slab of lunch meat like your car, right?

There are people out there that enjoy swinging clubs/parties and watching other dudes bang their chicks. You guys need to watch more late night soft core porn. You can really learn alot. Just my $0.02

Really though, I drive it when I can. I have a fleet vehicle for work and travel a lot. But that hot piece is there waiting for me at home when I get back in town, fresh as new.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm more worried about a neglected car than an abused car.

@03cobra#694 I have tried to talk my old lady into it but she has this shit called morals & ethics. Whatever the **** that is? Then tells me no and calls me a perv. But I do have plenty of knowledge on late night soft core porn.

I wish I had more time to really enjoy it. I always thought I would have time for cars but I simply dont. Between work, school, wife, and 2 kids the car rarely gets to come out. Only reason I still have it is its paid for and its not costing me anything to let it sit.

I drive mine. I walk out and see a GT500 or a cheese doodle truck.. why would I drive the truck? Ok, there are some reasons to drive the truck, but if I can drive the mustang I will. 26K miles in 2.25 years. I'm going to get my money's worth. I bought the car to enjoy it.

where dem hoes be
miles = more maintenance, more wear, & a shorter lifespan. You're fooling yourself if you don't think that's the case.

So you can afford to pay hundreds of dollars each month (for a payment/insurance) for a car to just sit collecting dust, but you can't afford an additional 20-30 bux a month to actually enjoy the car.

Interesting logic.
