The front brake savings is not as significant as Almo made it sound. I weighed everything and PM'ed him and Dwight a while ago with all the weights broken down. Basically the only svaings is from the rotor, which I am pretty sure shaved 5-6 pounds per wheel. The caliper and caliper bracket weighed the same GT or Cobra.

Correct... I didn't mean to make it look like it was a huge amount. Maybe I should have put the following.

22 for the GT stuff upfront vice 33 pounds for the Cobras upfront. You're not saving anything in the back.

Either way, 15 pounds off the front of a car can make a difference of whether a car pulls the wheels up a foot or 3 feet. That is, if the car is setup correctly. Every little bit helps.

I would love to run those, but right now I can probably do gt brakes for no money at all. Maybe one day I can get the Aerospace, that would have to affect et a good bit. Does he still have the abs or did he get rid of it? I wouldn't mind taking that off either, IMO it's only for people that can't drive anyway. Lol.
He removed the ABS system Larry.

I took one look at those brakes and immediately thought there's no way they could stop the car at the end of the quarter. But JR's been 150.11 MPH and he seemed to have no problems stopping the car.

By the way, his car is for sale.........:cryying:

Looks like for now I'll be doing the gt front brakes. 11/12 lbs of rotational weight is worth it IMO. Maybe later on down the road I can get some race brakes.

If saving the weight out of the rotors is the only difference in going to GT brakes why not just get better/light rotors from a company like Baer or Brembo and increase your stopping power while reducing weight?

Now all you gotta do is lost 14 lbs and you got 200 lbs of weight reduction! Hehe. Nice list you got there.

I can get the gt brakes for free, that's why and they'll have plenty of stopping power for what I do with the car. I'm a drag racer not a road racer. Later on down the road when I have the extra cash I may pony up for some better/lighter brakes.

Anyone remove the charcoal canister and have a weight for it? How about the EGR stuff? Any weights on aftermarket hoods?

Just bumpin this thread.

For track days this year, here is my plan:

Spare tire...........................-26.4 lbs
Trunk pad...........................-6.0 lbs
Rear seat bottom.................-11.0 lbs
Rear seat back....................-25.6 lbs
Rear seat head rest..............-5.6 lbs
High flow catted midpipe........-22.6 lbs
Passenger seat removed........-45 lbs

I might look into building my own RSD out of ABS plastic so that might add a few lbs, but shouldnt be too significant.

Total should be around 145lbs of weight from the car. Plus im on the P90x and slowly losing weight. So if I can get my fat ass down to 205lbs, it should be alot lighter for the track.
