Im in Texas and had something similar happen to me last SB. Except I was a little luckier than you. *edit* wrote my story before reading your last post. Sorry.

I got pulled over and harassed, put in the back of the squad car and they pretty much "scared" me (me being 22, on the beginning of spring break 10' ; I was racing a buddies Supra when he clocked me). They let me go with a ticket of 111mph in a 50mph (61 over). My buddy got the same punishment.
I was shittin myself for a while, due to the fact that they can choose to suspend your license/probation/heavy fines/involuntary manslaughter (based on speeds) & I wasnt sure what to expect so..... I hired a traffic lawyer (researched and paid 200$). Case got dismissed, I was in the courthouse for an hour and then got released. Not sure if the officer even showed up...

Wow. I wasn't expecting it to be that bad. More like community service, $ and driving school.

I have an "interest" in this case because I'm in the same boat here in Missouri. I pulled over before the officer could get moving from the shoulder and had nothing but respectful, polite and honest responses. Punched with the "full amount" on the gun - which is fine, that's his job.

Needless to say, I will NOT make the same mistake(s) in the future. You make your own choices and I am ready to face the consequences.

If they ask you if you know how fast you were going just tell them 'yes.' That answers the question. Then ask them how you can help them.

This is the worst advice I've seen for dealing with a LEO in a long time. Be a smart ass and piss the LEO off, that'll get you real far, like you in handcuffs and your car on the back of a flatbed at the end of the day.

"Do you know how fast you were going?"

"Yes"

"Well, how fast were you going?"

How, exactly, is an honest answer being a smart ass? That's like your wife/gf asking if you want a BJ. Your answer then going to be smart assed or are you going to turn it down?

Did you not have parents, it's called splitting hairs. When he asks you "Do you know how fast you were going over the speed limit?" he is not looking for a teenage yes/no answer, he's looking for a truthful numerical answer.

Good luck with that attitude with police. You'll get the ticket, and a couple citations for other things before he's done. And frankly, it's one case where I wouldn't blame him - if you're going that far over the speed limit and get caught, and you don't have the common sense to understand you did wrong and put your tail between the legs and cooperate, you get what's coming.

Guess you don't know how to do research on here. I AM THE POLICE. Geesh. Get a clue before you post. And I don't drive that fast to begin with, so I wouldn't be getting pulled over. Lie and say you don't know how fast you were going and I can write any speed I want on your ticket, huh?

sarcasim or serious? that cant be legal. i was told that if you ask to see the speed on the radar they have to show you? but idk how true that is.

Two questions:

How exactly did you get harassed by the police?

involuntary manslaughter???? How in the hell would you be charged for involuntary manslaughter for speeding? I'm pretty sure I read your post right...no one died in your story.

Gotta pay to play!

I like to read these posts, they are few and far between. Personal responsibility.

Looks like that's gonna be the best deal you get then. I'm sure if you refuse the offer or can't decide the offer won't stand for long. The judge will be aware of the deal that was offered, if convicted it's a great possibility you will face much harsher punishment.

No, you don't have to be shown the radar. Many times, there is no speed displaying on the radar for you to see. Hell, in most state, a LEO doesn't even need to use radar to write you a ticket.

Not true in VA. We don't have to show you anything on any instrument of speed measurement. AND, you have to sign the summons also, or you can be arrested for Obstruction of Justice. VA is a harsh state to get stopped in for anything.

OP.. just go into court and say "Jeez judge, I have a 712hp stang and let off before I even got to the top of third gear, I thought I was being good!"

On second opinion.... next time a cop pulls you over and asks how fast you were going just grin real big and say "NO, but it sure was fun!!!"

Either that or make a play on sympathy "officer, I just found out my wife is sleeping with my brother... and my cousin... and two of my best friends, my life is a mess right now"
