Could probably corner like the GT3 car games  Might be it or might not but if its following the new Gen numbers, I'm sure if will put great numbers. I'm sure it will give GT350 a good run and the new gen? Z28 topping the GT350R. Of course I could be very wrong and the GT350 be a great handling car.

But like I said, there are no official times for it at the moment. The rest have already put a name in it, the GT350 hasn't. The nea Mustang GT while performing better, still came short vs the competition

I don't think Ford ever wanted to benchmark the 1le. They wanted to do better that the 302ls. Which they did. That said Thais they are still behind the old 1le. I say this because wide front meats and sticky tires can make it even and then some. Regardless the GT is damn good running a 52 at Sears. Where most amatuer c7z and 991 gt3 are running 58. It's all the driver a they say.

In saying this they did benchmark the 350. Same as Z51 for cheaper, same as 991 gt3 for cheaper is damn good. Times will roll in. Those that already know the time say +25k and better than the gt4 respectively.

Well considering you won't find one on the lot... And it's pretty common sense that no dealer will allow random test drives of a 350r. I doubt any normal 350's will even be allowed to go for a 'test drive

Yup. I remember trying to test drive a BOSS when they were released, NOPE!

If the question was GT350R at MSRP vs GTR at MSRP I'd say Ford all day. But if you really want to buy something right away, at those prices, I have to say the GTR. Can't go wrong with either choice but **** paying a ADM

I want, and will eventually own a GT350 or 350R, but I will never pay an ADM! Given the choice that the OP has, I'd go with the GTR. It would look nice next to my R32 GTR

You drive a GT350 and I'll drive my GTR right beside it and you'll see the difference. ...

Which difference are you referring to? Do you think the GTR will turn more heads than a GT350R? I think the responses would go something like this:

"Oh, look. Yet another GTR."
"Oh, shit! Is that a GT350R?!?"

Not even kidding, people don't even understand what cars are about anymore, the only people I see driving pdk/auto cars are people who care more about status than the actual enjoyment of driving.

I would 100% be happier in just about any manual rwd car than an auto.

I do however understand that in this day and age people think if you buy the auto you are immune to losing races

^^This. And I'll add to it that most people singing the praises of automatic transmissions are drag racers. NOBODY who actually enjoys driver involvement wants an automatic transmission. That said, for cars like the 991 GT3 that you can't even get a manual in, I'd still like to own one. Then again, Porsche is delivering a 911R with a real manual, so...

I hated on GTR's until i got to drive one around for 30 mins. IMO, Its on a whole different level compared to a Mustang. When you drive a Mustang, Youre basically driving a hopped up $20k base chassis car and it really shows after getting out of the GTR. I'm a huge Mustang guy but when you start getting into the $70-80k range, There are several other options i'd choose over a Mustang. Thats just me being an unbiased realist.

An unbiased realist? Isn't the GTR's chassis based on the same FM chassis that Nissan uses in virtually every one of its cars and crossover vehicles from the Altima to the Infinity FX??

Yeah... because this interior is so much worse than the mustang's :bored:

Your fanboy-ism is showing

Honestly, IMO, the interior of an '05 -'09 Mustang GT is nicer than that.

It'll probably be a little higher rate than other Mustang models, but with a few more bush you can buy a basically new Boss 302S. I know which one I'd rather track.

Yeah, but the 302S isn't road legal, is it? ;-) If you want just a track car, I don't see how you can go wrong with a full fledged race car!

Wildman, what do you drive? Have you ever owned a C6Z, GTR, GT350, or any other cars you are claiming are better than the next? I don't understand all the hate for a car you probably haven't even sat in, much less driven.
This I'd like to know as well.

At every track day event I've been to

You must not have gone to many track days if these are your thoughts on the GTR's on track performance. Any monkey can take an incredible machine and turn it into complete poop on a race track. Doesn't make that machine any worse in the grand scheme of things.

A manual RWD car might be a little bit more fun to drive and it will take a more skilled driver to perfect, but it will not hold a candle to a well driven GTR on the track. AWD handling/grip with great power and slick shifting auto trans is going to destroy anyone in a manual RWD car not named Senna.

I think crow season is just about upon us.

I cant tell if my fanboism is showing but damn, the mustang interior looks way more put together and thought out than the GTR's. Look at all the dynamic textures and attention to detail compared to the blandness of the GTR's. Sorry, but thats not an interior up to par of a car id spend ~$100k on. I recall sitting in either a altima or maxima and then a GTR at the SDIAS and just being let down, it really felt like they put all their effort into the driveline and nothing into the interior.

I just don't like the look of the GTR. I know everything performance wise will be in the GTR's corner, but, walking out in my garage I'd rather see the GT350r. If I liked how it looked, for the exact same price, I'd get the GTR probably. Might be some homerism in that but not everything is about performance. I can understand people going for the GTR though.

That's how I feel. I mean look at this - this car is beyond drop dead sexy:

We live in Houston, so since TX2k became a GT-R fest, even my fiance' isnt impressed with the GT-R anymore, they are literally a dime a dozen. Now, literally every person in my family drives stick, my mom, my dad, me, my fiance, my sister ... we are a driving family; my Dad, my fiance' and i also go to road courses several times a year so my option is clearly the GT350(R). The GT-R is incredible, but i feel its not a driver's car, its a car that can drive itself around a track, it just needs some monkey behind the wheel to get it started.

The GT-R is an incredible machine, sure, but it just doesn't do it for me. Like when Top Gear reviewed the Mclaren MP4-12c, they mentioned that it is an incredible machine, but that it lacks "soul" or "feeling" or just something that makes it special. I feel that's what the GT-R is, its a computer on wheels that lacks character, lacks "soul."

I'm sure someone toting how much "fun" their 1000 whp GT-R is is going to have a gripe with my statement, but its my statement and i stand by it. I promise i am having a lot more fun in my 120 whp miata around a road course than you are with your 1000 whp GT-R in a straight line. By the way, i have driven several fast cars in a straight line, so unless you've also been around a road course, then your argument is invalid ;)

OP just has to decide if he wants to drive, or be driven. The cars aren't really comparable at all, so that's basically all it comes down to.

Driving fast in a straight line isnt the only thing the GTR is good at. While anyone can claim they have more skill because they can drive a manual (no shit, so could my 65 year old mother). How many can back up their claims of having skill, are your lap times close to a semi pro driver? Same analogy goes to motorcycle riding, sure you can ride a bike shift/down shift, but how many can drag their knees on corners and clock times equivalent to a semi pro rider?

The R will hold some decent times, but it will not beat an equally driven GTR. I'm talking about same driver same day. Remember, the GTR is competition for the C7 Z06. The GTR and GT350R might have a comparison when it comes to interior styling, but performance it wont look good for the R.

I like the GT350/R, but i respect what the GTR can do, especially for how large the vehicle is. If i had a choice to own both, I'd own the more expensive car and trade it in for a 1 of 1 configured 2016 Viper.

A closer comparison would be a GT350R vs the Porsche Cayman GT4.
