i would say the same exact everthing that the 03 cobra has, but instead of using the 4.6, throw the 5.4 or 5.8 in there so we can have like 500 rwhp stock!! then after the pully and everthing u can have 700 rwhp with no prob

if it weighs less than the current cobra and has at least the same power/engine, it'll be a winner. less weight doesn't just mean faster, but will also mean a better handler. i should graduate and get a career by '06 and the new stangs have my interest.

Since the Ford GT is advertised at 500 HP they prolly wouldnt go over that mark. Id say a stroked 4.6 to a 5.0 w/ an eaton, to bring back the slogan of the past "fiveoh"..rated at 475 but in reality making about 460 RWHP.

I read somewhere on here that the new Lightning is going to have 540 hp. It would be nice to see that in the 06 Cobra, and possibly a 600 hp version for the Shelby Cobra with a solid axle with 3.73 gears.

I think that the next cobra can go over 500 hp even though the gt has only 500 hp. There is many other factors to that car that make it a supercar which is why it costs that much. If ford is going to compete with the new viper and new Z06 they will have to go to 500 hp because of the hefty weight of the Mustang. I would also be prepared to pay $45,000-$60,000 for a 600 hp Shelby Cobra. We have already seen a $60,000 limited edition Mustang. Why not the same price for a semi-mass produced one with all the goodies we should expect from Ford if it wants to attract buyers for what seems like the next big musclecar era? Also with a pricetag like that on a 600 hp monster would keep it away from 16 yr old kids.

5.4 Al block, al heads...

No blower. Go aggressive head/cam package and give us some nasty (450) horse and extra nasty (450-500) Torque.

I dont think they'll go blower and AL... If they go blower they will have to use the CI block and it would be HEAVY. Wieght is the enemy... no more cheeseburgers either!

5.0L DOHC S/C 450(underrated)HP, T56 w/ .50 6th, 26spline input shaft, IRS, 3.55s

or

5.0L DOHC N/A 390(underrated)HP, T56 w/ .50 6th, 26spline input shaft, Solid Axle, 4.30s

I agree with the first option, bring back a 5.0 with a blower.

Well, Ford performance is going to release a bunch of 5.0 cammer crate motors soon. One has 4 webber carbs and a dist. conversion. One is all motor making 415 hp/370 tq the other has a Screw blower on it and the other is unanouced. I really think a 5.0 eaton twin screwed blown motor in the 06/07 Cobra is what we will get!
