Your right about the pictures. The wheel doesnt look right and its not turned. There seems to be a buckle under the passenger side scoop and drivers side seat has a tear in it. It is never fun fixing someone elses damage. Look at the salvage cobra sonic blue on ebay. That is a good one.

I cannot believe they buthchered that cobra. I've been in the collision industry for a long time and hate to see cars fixed like that. I would not pay nearly that buy it now price.

I don't see how anybody could even want this car looking at the inner fenders. Clearly the car was hammered hard in the front, regardless of what the OP says. It was totalled for a reason.

He is sketchy.. He sold a 03 cobra to a guy named zach(neednmore2) on here and about a month or two after buying it he posted it for sale on here and I called this guy and asked him if there was any problem before he sold it to zach and be said there wasn't and it ended up having a certificate of destruction title or something like that and this guy didn't do a good job putting the car back together. The zach guy sold it to another member on here.

Edit;on my iPhone.

That is what I was thinking...probably come back as a COD in FL. The guy won't forward me before fix pictures...which would be required in FL to get a rebuilt title in FL. Sounds toooooo shady to me.

Yeah, you need to be very careful with this. As Budweiser mentioned, there has already been two members on this board that has experienced this nightmare.

The big kicker here, is that the seller is offering a SALVAGE CERTIFICATE. This is NOT the same thing as a salvage title. Basically, he has purchased the car from the insurance company and was handed the certificate.* At this point, in order for the car to LEGALLY be driven, it must be repaired and INSPECTED. Most states will require before pictures, and documentation regarding parts used. After the vehicle passes inspection, the awarding state will issue a salvage title, which then will allow the owner to register the car a his local DMV.

The seller is avoiding paying taxes on the car, paying inspection fees, and avoiding a possible rejection.

Supposedly there are some lax states on this procedure (I couldnt find one), and then there are some hardcore states. For instance, in my great state of TN, the DMV will not issue a salvage title unless the vehicle has already passed inspection from the state that issued the salvage certificate.
Any buyer who chooses this route needs to be sure his state will allow for a local inspection, and not need all the required docs. I've contacted this seller before on a potential purchase and he was not willing to provide any pics/docs. You will be on your own.

*When a vehicle is deemed totalled by the insurance company, the title is to be released to the state for destruction and a salvage certificate will be returned. You can not register a certificate, it must be converted to a salvage title.

Hello, time to bump an old thread. I now own the car. It was owned by a friend. I dragged it back to Indiana. I can confirm the car was fixed badly. It needs at least 7K in framework. I am planning on rebuilding it over time. I can confirm by the VIN this is the car. 1FAFP48Y43F309694
I am keeping records so in the future, I can get a rebuilt or salvage title.

I hope you got it really cheap because that's going to take a lot of work/money to get it back to a condition where it can be titled, based on the history in this thread. You seem to know not only the history of this car but what it's going to take to "fix" it. I do wish you well with the work and hope you don't encounter more headaches than you expect.
