I have a OnePlus 3t and have loved it. I like how the Android skin is so light it's almost like stock Android, plus at the time the pricing was killer. I paid 475 for mine 6g ram and 128g hd. I doubt I will buy a 7 though due to the price bump as well as the 3.5 jack going away. Before this I had a LG g3 and loved it. Samsungs are killer for photos and the screens but the software bloat and touch wiz Android skin drive me bonkers

    * The oneplus 7 is on sale right now way cheaper than I have seen it.

I just upgraded from the S7 Edge to the S10+ about a month ago and I love the S10. It is by far the best performing and smoothest operating of Samsung's phones that I have used. It doesn't seem like it does anything really spectacular but it does all the regular things you need it to do exceptionally well. Battery life is the best I have ever seen. I use my phone a lot and this will go from 7am when I wake up to when I go go bed at around midnight on a single charge. Also, it has dual speakers on each end so sound is great from it and the alarm is loud enough now that I haven't slept through any alarms in a while which is important for me because I have a tendency to do that.

The LG G8 is a great phone, especially if you install Gcam (Pixel camera port).
Pros: video, photo, and audio powerhouse. Good all around phone. The quad DAC they use for their audio jack is industry leading by a large margin. It's cheap....especially if you buy on Swappa. Sdcard slot. Great build quality. The phone uses its screen for an earpiece speaker and it is absolutely bananas for phone calls. Traditional fingerprint scanner works reliably. Haptic feedback is comparable to the iPhone. It has a front time of flight sensor so face unlock is instant and very secure.

Cons: LG doesnt update their phones often. The audio recording mics are in a class of their own but the G8 is a step down from the V40. Accessory selection is slim. Development community is nonexistant. Even though it's fixed by a launcher, the LG home skin is the worst out of the three.

I just sold an LG V40 to get the G8. The G8 has a slightly better camera but the V40 records audio in videos better. You can't go wrong with either

    S10:
Pros: Good all around performer. It kind of does everything well Has an audio jack and a really good screen. It also had exceptional accessory selection because it's so widely used. They resell well. Sdcard slot. 5G version available.

Cons: Samsung phones don't age well and their software still tends to consume itself. A few reviewers have followed up their reviews starting that long term performance is better than it used to be but still not great. The screen hole punch is terrible. Cost. The in screen fingerprint scanner isn't reliable.

    Pixel 3:
Pros: hardware performance ages exceptionally well. It has the best point and shoot camera. Updates make everyone jealous. Unlocked for all carriers and Google Fi compatible. Great Front facing camera. Front facing speakers. Decent accessory availability. Traditional fingerprint scanner works reliably

Cons: video and audio recording are embarrassingly bad. No Sdcard slot and no wide or telephoto camera. No headphone jack. It doesn't have enough ram. The screen notch is huge.

Phones are tough to shop for. Reviewers are in one of the worst biased echo chambers in all of retail and fanboism is so out of control it's impossible to get an honest opinion. Fyi, the pixel 3A is a good option if cost is a concern (as are LG's phones on Swappa (they don't hold value well).

The One Plus 7 pro is a pretty interesting phone too.

Agreed. I generally recommend Pixels for non-tech people with a habit of destroying phone software. I don't know how people kill their software so bad but they do

I have a ~2.5yr old 6s that was fantastic for about 6 months. Then some iOS update happened and battery life went to complete garbage- like, 100% to 5% in an hour. I did all of the tips and tricks online, got it to about 3 hours between charges. It sits on a charger all day and all night now, including when in a vehicle. Also, Apple changed the messenger and music apps to include advertisements for other apps and crap I don't like. Once this phone officially ****s the bed, I'm leaving Apple forever.

I really like mkbhd for phone reviews. I feel like he does a good job of going in depth and reviews some oddball phones

ya, that's why I asked on here for experience. I hate reading phone reviews.
Cost isn't a concern, a phone that I will keep for 2 years and not be a piece of shit is. Headphone jack isn't a concern, I only have bluetooth headphones anyways. I run, and I hate the cord flopping. Thanks for the tips.

Why is why I didn't ****ing ask about iphones.

for those bitching about bixby, i disabled it on my S8, can't you do that on the new phones?

I'd consider the note 10, but I don't want to wait. I am not sure my current phone will last

Well you only have about 3 months to wait for the note 10. But if a new phone is a must an S10+ will work

I had battery issued with my Note 5 (I think it was a 5). Anytime below 50%, it could/would randomly drop to 1% and then turn off. On the average day, I could still live with this, and factoring in the crazy cell phone prices, I had no plans to upgrade. But then the S8 was a couple months old, Samsung had a discount and an options $200 rebate if you traded in a smartphone and even 6 year old HTC qualified somehow. The result was I paid like $450 to Samsung for an unlocked S8

I watch mkbhd but his reviews are terribly biased. He gets a lot of criticism on the net for it too. Juan Barbell and tech rants called him out for it over his G8 review.

It's like that with cars too....you watch all of these reviews but when you finally drive it you wonder if they reviewed the same car. Like car reviews, eventually you realize review are largely biased nonsense that follows a predictable script to generate views.

I just got a OnePlus 7 Pro myself. Really happy with it after switiching from an S7 Edge. I opted for the 8GB RAM 256GB storage option in blue. The warp charge, edge to edge display, and 90HZ are fantastic.

The fingerprint and face scanner are also fantastic. Very fast. I could have gotten the S10+ at the same price, but I still opted for this mainly due to the edge to edge display and 90hz.
