I had the chance to do some port work on the boss intake. Alls I did, was use a dremel to trim the injector boss and smooth out the "triangular" pieces in the runners.

Unfortunately the track is closed, so no track results.

Also, torque before port was 373ftlb. After was 379ftlb. So +11rwhp and +6ftlb and gains throughout the entire band.

This is with torque, sorry

And yeah, alls I did was buy an extension for the dremel. Carbide tipped cutter, couple 120 grit sand paper drums, hand sanded 600/1200/2000 grit, then polish with felt pad. And cleaned it with a parts cleaner.

The pictures look a bit rough, but the plastic was smooth. Carbide tipped cutter to trim the triangular corner pieces and blend the 2 pieces of plastic, then sanded with the drum til the triangular corner pieces were totally gone

This is after hand sand, and polish

Then used a parts cleaner to get all the polish compound out and clean it up, but no pics of that.

Was my first time ever porting anything.

The fact that you were able to successfully complete the task of porting on your first try gives me hope lol. I'm going to keep my OEM boss IM how it is but I'll look into doing this with the CJ intake. Good write-up, results and work OP

Definitely give it a shot. Just get the runners smooth.

I'm most likely going to end up porting the TB entrance, a 90mm TB and make a 4" intake. See how far I can push the boss intake. But, I may end up switching to a CJ intake.

im thinking of doing this, do you do anything with the fins on the intake side? is it bad to take those off?

Nicely done!

Thanks Shaun!

No I didn't, I was kind of rushing at the end to get it done lol.

In a few months, I do plan on taking out the fins, smoothing the throttle body side maybe get some port work in there (not much room) running a 90mm throttle body, then making an intake.. Most likely a 4". But, a CJ swap will most likely make more power. So I'm up in the air.

Actually pretty similar. I'll get that guys for you in a few.

Regardless, on that Dyno.. I made 404rwhp in hot humid weather, and on a cooler day I made 404 again.

thanks for the post.this has made my decision on paying $500 for a intake and free port job verses the $1000 -$2000 intake project.

No problem! Glad it was useful.

I am going to push the boss intake, see how it does Dyno and more importantly, at the track. If I want more, I'll be doing a CJ swap .

I did send a few datalogs to Shaun to see if anything could be adjusted... Although it's running great, and making great power.
