To me it will be about total price/performance. I don't follow the corvettes closely, but how is this stacking up against a C6 with intake/exhuaust/tune? 1/4 and ET.

They run about the same price I believe (someone chime in with the GT500 pricing). The GT500 only outperforms the C6 in 1/4mile acceleration stock for stock and in the # of passengers it can hold ;-) . The vette outperforms in every other category. The one thing the GT500 has going for it is the built motor with a factory blower. Very easily will handle more boost.

As far as intake/exhaust/tune, why compare a lightly modded C6 versus a stock GT500? Give the GT500 the same and it will still be quicker.

2007 GT500 standard vehicle price $40,930.00

GGT $1,300.00

Total vehicle & options: $42,240.00

Dest. $745.00

Total MSRP $42,975.00

PS Just as a warning to any other Trolls like Nosup4u that think they might be funny/entertaining? Your crap=ban. Pretty simple procedure!

thats C5. fastest is an 11.5 @ 120, but that was with a cold air intake and drag radials.
fastest bone stock is 11.781 without a mph specified.
C6 Z06s have gone 11.3-11.5 @ 127. the E.T.s arent much better but the trap speed is phenomenal. the C6 Z06s really start to haul once they exceed 100 or so. dont forget that in a recent completely biased magazine article a C6 Z06 made a ferrari and porsche look silly up to 150 mph.

As for the GT500, Im gonna try and say the least amount so as to not get banned. comparing the GT500 to an f-body is one thing, comparing it to a corvette is another. if you think this car will ever compare to a C6 Z06 youre out of your mind. two completely different beasts. also like said before, you guys compare modded cars to stock cars. well, us GM folk mod our cars too. whatever you can do we can do too. uhhh except change pullies... unless you count underdrive pullies.

and Im sure I'll get the "OMG YOURE A GM NUTSWINGER!!" Yes, yes I am.

I went to Ford's site where you can order your car. I cant find where it is. I picked mustang GT and tried to find options to upgrade, but no luck. Any links to options and such?

Great examples, but you didnt answer anything he asked:lol: He wanted to know about a base 400hp C6 vette.

oh, I must have misread. I dont have a timeslip page for the C6 saved but I do know they'll run low 12s with good drivers. I think they're a couple ticks behind a C5 Z06. no doubt will someone reach 11s stock with them. Id say stock vs stock a base C6 and GT500 should run neck and neck with it being a drivers race. once you throw in boltons yeah its gonna change. people do get 390-400 rwhp out of an LS2 without touching internals though. thats enough to trap 120 in a vette.
theres just no comparing cars modified beyond that point though, as Im sure you know.

edit: while doing some searching, a recent muscle mustangs and fast fords article pitted a roush stage 3 mustang GT vs an 05 Z51 corvette. the corvette ran 12.59@113mph vs 12.93@110 for the roush. the best time on the corvette forums that I could find was 12.49 @ 114.9.

I was talking about the GT500 in this thread in the straight line. ;-) There aren't many F-body guys around me that road race so I don't doubt that they haven't passed you, + you have a huge advantage stock vs stock. If it wasn't so expensive to setup my car to road race I would be doing it to, but to do it right it would cost probably between the brakes, suspension, seats, harnesses, cage, ect. :( BTW do you have any incar videos of you on the track?

I originally didn't want to derail this thread anymore than it already was. BUT seeing it has been so far off the tracks, I don't see much harm in this. This is the NASA event from Road America Spring 2005. My car mods at the time were MM front suspension and Kenny Brown IRS. Brakes are stock except for pads. Engine is stock except for exhaust. (still running cats at the time BTW) Some other stuff like SFC's and a roll cage. Stock seats and all body panels.

This particular video I'm giving one of the NASA officials a ride in my car in the HPDE4 group. Afterwards, as a favor to me, they slipped me into the TTB group and I ended up taking first place. There was a black Mallett Corvette in the TTA group and I ended up 2 seconds faster than him. (I know the track pretty well ;-) ) You can see the Black Mallett is CLEARLY faster than I am at the end of the video when I try to pass him on the uphill straightaway. I guess I should have been in the same TT class as the Mallett?

This is a similar version of the same session but put to music. If you don't like the song, sorry. Turn your volume down then? I thought the song was fitting IMHO?

Enjoy!

You can pretty much get a C6 for thousands under sticker these days so they are alittle cheaper then the GT500.

I just signed the papers on my 06 C6 this afternoon.

MSRP : 45,740

I paid 38,999 + TTL

Stock for stock it's a driver's race. Start adding pullies and shit and the shelby should walk the C6 up top without a problem.

I really want to see what the shelby could do with a smaller pulley

BTW - AC. You have an R? How much did you pay and how do you like it?

Congrats on the new ride! I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Yes I have a 2000 "R". Look under my avatar, it's the only car listed. I bought the "R" in October of 2002. Paid 42 or 43 for it? Can't remember? I have a good memory, it's just short!

How do I like the "R"? It is the most fun you can have with your clothes on! ;-) I have had more fun with that car than you can even imagine. The best part is all of the friends I have made at track events. One of my best Buds is Damian the Video Meister! He really makes some awesome vids.

Another one of my tracking Pals drives a Z06 and I don't even give him any crap! We have a blast terrorizing each other on the track! He hates when I don't go to the F-Body events because he has no competition unless I'm there. Yep, good old "Black Death". A modded Z06 with a driver that can actually drive!

 :coolman:

Here is the current list for C6's, no C6Z06 times. Nothing is corrected so the times are from all over with varying degree's of driver skill and weather. For example, I'm in there with a [email protected] (2.1) in 106 degree heat and a 4500' DA when my C6 dynoed 377/358 SAE. Obviously better weather would have netted me better times but it is what it is.

CORVETTEFORUM.COM C6 Corvette ET Rankings

Times are received from all over the country and are not corrected. Because track and weather conditions vary, this list ranking does not, and can not, identify the fastest cars or drivers in any particular order. It only lists the recorded times, regardless of conditions, in order from quickest to slowest. In cases where ET is the same, the higher MPH determines list order.
