Glad you're ok brother. That is a man size impact.
As much as we all love our cars, it's just a car and can be replaced.

My accident was pretty damn bad, considering it's already up to 33k in damages. but I as long the car is paid off and I get some money for the huge inconvenience this has been than I'll let it go.
Yeah mine was 1 of 19. I'm still waiting to hear if they are actually going to total it out. But with 33k in damages I don't see them trying to fix it
Yeah, not sure other than it was a cheap Sentra, but no ****ing way I'd let them fix my car after a hit that hard.Insurance company went to 95% fixing my sentra, actually went over 100% when they did a supplemental to fix a bent rear axle they missed on the initial estimate.

No way that GT500 would ever be the same.
I'm sure Steve will get it handled and find another bad '13-14.

Any idea what caused him to be THAT distracted?I have already posted this on Facebook and my Instagram, but I figured I would tell you guys also. So I was headed home from work after getting my 14 GT500 detailed and while getting off the freeway and coming to a complete stop a young kid in a 2500 HD Chevy wasn't paying attention and rear ended me doing about 45 to 50mph. Needless to say my GT500 lost big time, but it saved my life and for that I can't thank Ford enough for building a safe vehicle like our cars. I'll be getting another 14 GT500 once everything is settled.

It pisses me off all the young guys who think they can text and drive. The day they kill someone is the day they lie and state they never text and drive. That sucks. Glad you're ok, but see a doctor and get checked out. An impact at those speeds can lead to injuries that will surface later, especially in the head and neck. You may want to consult with an attorney.
I'd also press the local DA to open an investigation and pursue charges against the other driver. I'm betting if they pull his phone records they'll show he was using it at the time of the crash. He could have easily killed someone.
If they come back and say they can fix I'll tell them to keep it and get a lawyer. That car is destroyed, I don't honestly see how It can be fixed.Yeah, not sure other than it was a cheap Sentra, but no ****ing way I'd let them fix my car after a hit that hard.

If they try and screw me over I'll be getting a lawyer and going after them. That car ain't fixable...............sure it can be fixed but like others have said no way that's gonna be my car after fixing it.
The problem is some bodyshop will probably end up buying it at auction then fixing it and passing it on as a clean car to some unsuspecting buyer. Yes ownerships and title would say salvage or whatever but a quick VIN change can take care of that if they know how to get around the system.
As far as lawyering up, MO on that is in this case that kid f'd up. He whacked your car and could've whacked you and I would take him and his insurance company for all it was worth. As mentioned in my previous post here the wife had kinda the same thing happen to her but she got injured and got her car written off. She can't go back to work and do her job like before so she is well within her right to lawyer up and get compensation...................and even what she got for a settlement isn't enough. It would have been better if that f**ker learned to drive and not hit her and take off and she would still be doing her job the last 3 years instead of suffering all this time before being made whole again (kinda).

I'm sure my car has over 40k+ in damage and I don't want it back.I asked my agent if the old 75% rule was still used, he said no. The sentra was one year old.
I'm pretty sure the dumb shit was texting.Any idea what caused him to be THAT distracted?

I completely agree, like I said had I been in a viper or a C6Z I would been hurt bad. I really hope the kid learns a lesson from all this.It pisses me off all the young guys who think they can text and drive. The day they kill someone is the day they lie and state they never text and drive.
What is worse is here in Florida all the old folks I am seeing looking down while driving. At least when young you got reflexes when you realize you really are not that good.

I honestly don't want to ruin the kids life, I just want my car replaced and all the money that was put into it.He'll learn the lesson after you sue him and his insurance and collect for your loss, pain and suffering and whatever else you can sue them for.
His insurance premium will go sky high and the only thing he'll be driving is on PS4 or Xbox 1.
I have been going to a Chiropractor a couple times now, he seems to think everything is healing up good. Insurance companies suck and I'm sure I'll have to get a lawyer. But maybe I'll get lucky they will be fair...But I'm not holding my breath.Dealing with insurance companies with a loss is not an easy thing to do. You as the claimant have to realize it is the job of the insurance company to not cover your loss in the most equitable fashion, but to have you settle the claim for the least amount of money. They aren't covering your loss. They are only watching out for themselves and their shareholders profit margin for the year.
Unfortunately I've been involved in an accident where I was listed in the lawsuit, even though I didn't cause the accident. The reason I was listed as a co-defendant in the lawsuit, along with the person that caused the accident was the fact I was in a commercial vehicle with a $3,000,000 liability policy. I was listed as a co-defendant by the other parties, because I had a $3,000,000 policy, not because I caused the accident. Because the vehicle I was driving had such a large liability coverage, the person's insurance company that caused the accident refused to pay for any damages to any of the other parties involved. It took multiple lawsuits by me and the other parties involved to bring the offending party's insurance company to agree to compensate for damages. What aggravated me the most is the fact is the commercial truck insurance liability company agreed to participate in the claim payout by 50%. When I asked the lawyers why this was happening they stated at this payout it was cheaper for their client(my insurance company) to pay 50% of the other parties claims then to go to court to have the responsible party's insurance company pay 100% of the claims. The legal battle over this accident took the course of 3 years to resolve, with none of the innocent parties involved in the accident receiving a single payment for compensation for their cars, trucks or medical expenses. Everyone involved had to use their own insurance company's collision coverage to pay for the damage to their cars and then let the insurance companies fight for who was going to pay 3 years later. The insurance company of the responsible party that caused the whole accident knew up front that that the insurance company of the large commercial vehicle had much more to lose and forced them to payout regardless of fault. This is what our sue happy lawyers have done to what 50 years ago used to be a fair system of insurance coverage for everyone.
The insurance company isn't worried about you or your car, they're only worried about how little the payout will be and they will fight you every step of the way to reduce that payout by as much as possible.
Most of the time on the property loss the insurance companies will negotiate a fair settlement without lawyers involved, but as soon as there are physical injuries the only way you'll get a settlement on those is with a lawyer in today's society in sue happy America.
OP......I'm glad you feel physically fit. But do yourself a favor, try to get an MRI of you spinal column to determine whether you've had a spinal disc injury. That was a hard hit. You maybe be fit as a fiddle, but you can also have an underlying injury that may take a while to feel its effects also. Sorry to see the car in that condition.
I agree with you. If they don't total out my car I will be getting a lawyer and going after his insurance and him to replace the car completely. I'm not taking that car back.Holy crap man... I'm glad you're ok.
I don't think you would be ruining his life if you went after him. In fact you might be saving it and some other person who won't be so lucky next time.
Imagine if you would have had anyone in that back seat. They wouldn't have made it.
Maybe if he realizes the seriousness of his actions he'll think twice before texting.
Noting today, I'm going to have to call tomorrow and see what's going on, the holidays are over so time to start figuring this stuff out.@2011 gtcs any update from insurance? Totaled?
Thanks man, he wasn't trying to race me, but I'm pretty damn sure he was texting. At the end of the day I just want my car replaced and for this to be over.man this is a bit late but holy sh*t that was bad.
if its like every other kid or moron in a diesel im sure he was trying to race you in his race truck.....glad that your ok sucks to loose out on your car but better things to come im sure
I've been on both sides of dealing with insurance companies involving auto accidents. The one thing I can tell you is they want your medical records and copies of all test results for any bodily injury payout. With those records they'll want the Doctors you've seen to write medical reports concerning your injury/injuries received in the accident. I went through this 35 years ago, I'm sure the insurance companies haven't changed the way they decide how to pay you for a bodily injury claim. In fact I'd be willing to bet they require more documentation today to prevent fraud. Also they have a set amount they will pay for each injury depending on what your medical records state, the amount of money spent to find the extent of the injury and treat it. Otherwise you'll be in court suing them.I have been going to a Chiropractor a couple times now, he seems to think everything is healing up good. Insurance companies suck and I'm sure I'll have to get a lawyer. But maybe I'll get lucky they will be fair...But I'm not holding my breath.
