Just got off the phone with the sales manager. He said since the 09's were "mass produced" and the 10's are going to be "so much rarer" they ave called other dealers to see what they are selling them for and that is the "market price"
If there are that many idiots in central TX buying them for 10-15k over sticker, then I'm going to have to go out of state to get my gt500

I can tell you that there are very few people out there right now who want to spend $50,000 on a Mustang. You always get the initial rush of people wanting one right away that creates the false impression of huge demand but once these folks get their cars the demand will drop off steeply and in a hurry. 11% unemployment before year end, taxes are going up all over the place and real estate values are still going down. 401s have been trashed..I don't think I need to go on you get the picture.
Bottom line is that the Dealer cars are starting to come in in quantity, all you have to do is look at Ebay, and they are not selling. Some Dealers are flush with excitement about the new model and think they have another free meal ticket. That is why some of them are acting so arrogantly about the service and pricing. All of that will be changing shortly and there will be a lot of GT500s to choose from. I have heard every story imaginable from dealers talking about production cuts, that the 2010 will cease production mid year, that the 2011 will not be built and on and on and on.
I would take anything a Dealer tells you with a grain of salt because #1 The really bad ones will lie (that has been proven). #2 Most don't really know what the heck is going on and the salesmen know even less.
The Dealers will communicate anything they can to create an urgency to buy at top price. If everyone just stays calm pretty soon you will be able to buy any GT500 you want at a rock bottom price.
You the buyer are in the drivers seat and are in control. If my order gets screwed up and I don't get a Vin # by the date I think I should then I will start shopping Dealer lots with cash in hand like I did on my 2009. As always you will find dealers who will sit on their new GT500s till Hell freezes over and that is their perogative.
Just remember, there are hardly any buyers for these cars right now. Most can't afford them and most people don't even want a car that is totally useless for most everything, gets horrible gas mileage and is expensive to insure.
Trust me you as a buyer for these cars are indeed a very rare person right now just some of the Dealers have not figured it out yet but they will.
Hang tough, don't overpay and know that the cars are coming and you will have very little competition to buy one soon.
This concludes my motivational speech for this week.
PS: I forgot to add, if you think the market has not collapsed on these cars just ask the guys that are trying to sell their used ones, it is a disaster. The Dealers won't even take them on trade most of the time.

man all of the posts in this thread just fuels my fire on buying a gt500. i priced them out locally and an 09 vapor/ black striped.... mach 1000 and ambient lighing is running 47k and theyre asking sticker. another dealer has a 2010 black with silver stripes... electronics package is running 49k plus an adm price of 10k. but i could get it for 500 over sticker. what should i do? i really want the 09 but i want it under sticker. i already stopped by and argued it doesnt have nav. or hids, but they still act arrogant. come on guys tips, arguements, pointers, anything? thanks, sam.
Sam if you pay over for a 09 you are crazy, sorry but its true. If you pay over for a 10 you are still crazy. You should be able to find a 09 for around 39k and a lot of people have bought 10's for invioce or alittle over invoice so to pay over is just crazy. Search and search is your best bet dont stay local use the net as much as you can it would better to have a car shipped to you then to pay the prices you said above. Hell use Ebay and you will find a better deal than you are seeing local. There is NO reason to pay sticker for a 09 when the 10's are on the lots!

Just thought I would share my yesterday experience. I sold my 05 cl 65 merc about a week and a half ago and was hard pressed to find a car. Ordering was out of the question due to time so I called my buddy and had him do a locate in fmc. There were three cars that matched my specs and were all gonna arrive at the dealers within a week. Two had already sold before they arrived but I found one at a dealer about a hundred miles from my house. Anyways I put a deposit about a week ago and it arrived at the dealer two days ago. It is a sterling gray with black stripes, elec package, dual zone elec a/c. Anyways I paid $50 under sticker which is basically sticker. I thought it was a decent deal being that it was the exact car I would have ordered and I got it fresh right now....
UPDATE: ok guys this afternoon i walked back into the dealership that had the 2009 vapor/black Gt500 BUT, i took my dad. right away they addressed him then me. i told my father the stories and of alll the info i read on this lovely website, so that way he was well informed. soon enough we got the sales manager involved in our conversation/ discussion on the GT500 and i got him to bust out the invoice and his best price on the car. he was giving it to us a couple hundred under invoice. lol i love having my dad on my side. he wanted to walkout with the car but my mom stepped in and told us to wait till next week when we can get insurance prices and all that jazz. thanks guys for all the info and personal experiences. hopefully my next thread will be titled... MY NEW 09 GT500!!!! sam.

The next dealership that wants to sell a Shelby for a crazy markup, heres what to do. Lets say it has a 10K markup. You get them to put this in writing. Tell them you'll take it for that price ONLY if they give you book value plus 10K when you go to trade it back in. Then they'll see how ridiculous this ADM is. My local dealer has a new black 09 that they have a 15K ADM on.
i think 10k is a little high, but i just sold our 10 with an msrp of $50745 for 53995
08's never went below 2k over, and the 09's are the only ones we went below msrp
i'm pretty good at gaugin the market as i'm a queer for these myself, i sold 07's as high as 17k over, because thats what the market was bringing and 09's at 1500 over invoice
i think the 10's will average 2k over for a while though, some will do a little better
