Hey, GetBlown2K3. Somehow I missed your post before. I'm sure that was me in South Florida. I would occasionally try to be "cool Dad" and drop my son off at school in the GT500.

Chris if it's possible can you measure the ground clearance on the front clip for the R and non-R? I haven't seen this posted anywhere yet. I need to make sure it'll go up my driveway! thanks.

no problem. I didn't expect anyone to be carrying a tape measure anyway.

Do tell about your experience and first impressions!

Car was unreal. Totally different than my GT500, but felt like it pulled just as hard. Just handled better.

Drove the R. Car was insane. And they're crazy loud.

Been up since 4am. Brain is fried, I'll write something up tomorrow

The GT 350/R's are fantastic to drive!

I drove the GT 350, and the R with the CF wheels and other misc. exhaust differences equates to a ~160# reduction over the standad 350. It is reported that the R's are 5 seconds faster at Lime Rock, a huge difference.

The power feels on par to a Boss with LT's, Exhaust, intake, and a tune. Should be a high 11 to low 12 second car at the strip for the standard 350 on street tires.

Redline is 8250, and the car pulls straight to the limit.

And then to the chassis!

The IRS is great when transitioning over rough terrain, the tires have all the grip in the world! Car feels like a dedicated track car with slicks.

The Brakes are quite possiblly the best thing on this car! No fade, and instant on.

The exhaust will be an immediate market for upgrades: The headers are beautiful, BUT have kinks all over them, and the cats are tightened at the welds. IMO, a 3 inch system and high flow cats will add equivalent as the Boss / Coyotte gained. I am hopeful that the tuners will gain 500+ RPM with the car, and 35-40 WHP.

The Ford Performance team is a world class group! Very easy to talk with and exciting to see the direction Ford is heading!

ONLY draw back: We did not have an opportunity to order a car at the event....... Would have sold 50 of them today alone.

Great time and got to see and hook up with some great people!

Stupid no room at Room at Road America bull crap....

I'm scared to drive one of these. I've heard 13/14 owners be swayed by the driving dynamics of a Boss.

This thing is probably light years beyond it.

How's the gearing? One thing I feel is a love/hate in the new GT500s is that you shift 2 times before you're in jail or dead... how's this track oriented beast compare?

I think I shifted into 4th at redline around 110ish? Was more paying attention to the road. The instructor was well into 4th at 145 before braking hard

I am bummed I did not get an invite. I guess 6 SVT products was insufficient.

How close do you live to one of the tracks?

Do they allow spectators? What hours do the events take place? I'll be in Florida when they're at Sebring and will be less than two hours away!

It says very clearly in the email that was sent to invitees that this is a "non spectator event"

However, out of the 80 or so invitees, 3 or 4 of them were allowed to have their spouse with them
