You forgot that OP needs to bang his wife too, then we can consider it justice.

OP if they don't total it, prepare to fight for diminished value as it will screw you royally when it comes time to sell.

If you can't get diminished value I would dump it before it hits Carfax. I bought used 2002 Trans Am and when I went to trade it in I found out it had been in an accident and they chopped me. Sucks man.

    I agree.

You may want to consider getting a lawyer if they won't total it or give you a healthy diminished value payment. Maybe you could consult a dealer and get an idea of what the trade in would be after a repair like that. This may have to happen after the repairs though to get an accurate trade in value. Maybe our local Ford dealer on here can help you out down the road.

Sorry to hear OP. Hope for your sake it’s totaled. But I’m doubting it. I wouldn’t meet with the driver either.

$10k repair. Not a total. That sucks dude. You should get $3-$4k diminished value.

Shitty. At least you were able to track him down.

Had someone clip my jeep a few weeks back and not bother stopping. Fortunately it's only a $20 fix.

Big trucking companies are mostly self insured. Back in 01 I bought a brand new f250 crew cab xlt I waited 4 months to get. I took it for its first truck wash and a ConWay 18 wheeler went right through a stop sign and f-ed up the side of my new truck. The cops showed up because I wouldn't move. The accident scene made it obvious who was at fault. Driver was ticketed and info was exchanged. When I pursued claim I found out company was self insured. In short, it was a pain in the ass, they paid but you can forget about total or diminished value. When I threatened them with court the adjuster flat out told me DO IT! No one was hurt we have a staff of lawyers.

The estimate wont exceed 10k, probably around 8-9k realistically going by the pictures. It's not going to total.

That's when you just go through your own insurance company and let them fight with the trucking company. It'll cost you a deductible up front, but better than dealing with that bullshit yourself.

I've seen s550 Mustangs totaled with about the same damage in the rear. One just a few days ago.

You sue the at-fault party for the deductible.

But there not a brand new 2018. Higher value with the new year. And the older ones lose value so makes it easier to total.

Seems in some cases thats the only other option other than to let it go.

It's worth the $500 (I realize not everyone has the same deductible as me) to let the insurance company deal with the trucking company since they have better resources at their disposal if self insured trucking companies are truly that difficult to get a settlement out of. I don't have any personal experience, just going off what the one guy said about them.
