have you tried a dynotech? I recently installed their 1 piece aluminum driveshaft and have been shocked at how amazing my car drives. I didnt realize how terrible the stock ds was. It goes into gear sooo much easier, especially on downshifts, and the car feels so much lighter and nimble, couldnt be happier. There might be an increase in noise, but I have a full exhaust, cant hear $hit anyway :lol1:
I predict in few years you wont see any so called one piece drive-shafts with two U joints and a huge sliding joint in between. That was poor design with numerous problems from day one. I have seen loads of threads complaining about the vibration issues. The slightest play in the sliding joint and the drive shaft is junk.
I asked three years ago why no one was using a CV joint and now they are. A single CV joint eliminates the sliding joint making the shaft truly one piece. And eliminates the need for aligning the rear end. Lighter, stronger, and free of vibration.
i have a DSS carbon fiber shaft. The carbon fiber looks pretty gross but it's an extremely nice quality shaft that performs perfectly.
The car rides really good on the highway at 70+mph speeds. At 100+mph speeds it's vibration free.
Maybe I'll purchase the Dyno Tech shaft and try it. I'm happy with the factory shaft but nervous it may break.
Who sells it the cheapest???
We run and sell the axle exchange brand. 0 issues at 154.5 mph!
I've been a mechanic for over 30+ years & have seen plenty of disasters arise from someone just swapping a pinion flange (or seal) on pretty much anything from a car to a heavy truck.
can it be done with no issues? shure.
can you end up with a noisy diff (or worse) because you short cutted it & didn't replace the crush sleeve/etc? defenately.
lack automotive knowledge..........I guess you think your talking to the typical teenager/adult wanna be forum lurker, which I assure you I am neither.
what I can't wrap my head around is the pricing. Why are other older mustangs paying less than $250 for a single piece drive shaft, while we have to pay triple that? seems a little excessive... unless there is something in the design of these drive shafts that I'm missing.
I'm currently lowered on a pair of eibach sport lines. What DS can I use that will bolt right in or do you have to adjust any DS so they are aligned properly? Is this a DIY part?
I have a Shaftmasters. 2 1/2 years so far. Has held up so far on a myriad of 1.5, a few 1.4, and a 1.3 60' so far.Tried a DSS, but that was a nightmare.
