If the SHTF, I've got a couple Morman families on my street. I'm hitting their houses first.

I just think its laughable some of these people think they will somehow get their entire family and friends out of the city or something, to a safe place, and just live out the rest of their lives like some happy fairy tale.

Truth is, the survivors of the collapse will be absolute loners, Book of Eli status loners. Will have to try to survive after seeing some insanely brutal shit, probably even making some insanely difficult choices, maybe even having to do with their survival above say a close friend or family member. None of us can even imagine what it will be like living knowing everyone you've ever loved is gone forever. Nope, no thanks.

I know in an event like that, that losses are going to be inevitable(and anyone that thinks otherwise is blind), but Ill sure try my hardest to protect loved ones should the situation arise. Im by no means a paranoid prepper, but I do have some extra ammo and sutff here and there thatll get me by for a short while if need be. And living life like that surely isnt going to be some glorious fairytale, day in and day out is going to suck, but at the end of the day Im still alive and plugging away!

Either way, I think its almost irresponsible to not prep for ANY kind of event (mostly small scale shit like storms, riots etc) , especially if you have others to care for. Too many folks nowdays get complacent and never expect anything to go wrong. Kind of like today, its -10* here right now, I sure as hell wouldnt leave the house without enough clothing to keep me warm/alive if my vehicle were to break down.

I was just curious if anyone else out there has been starting to prep in recent years with all the garbage going on in the world?

If anything major does happen I have about a month worth of food and water and no issue with shelter since I own my home and enough ammo to protect it for a while. Ive gotten more and more into rural survival because I think if something big does go down with another country or even in our own, the city is the last place I think I would want to be.

Am I crazy or is this the norm that everyone is now starting to think about and prepare?

Talks about prepping for doomsday but still hasn't sold his unnecessary impractical Mustang Cobra

What are you waiting for??

Sell your Cobra for canned goods,c wire and livestock and maybe well actually become believers and follow you.:bored:

I prep for natural disaster, a weeks worth of water and 2 weeks worth of food, working on getting a generator but that is about it. I will get called in if there is a natural disaster that calls power so I made sure my wife and child would have heat, food, water, radio, and lights that they could use if I had to go for a few days.

I am currently prepping, -46 with a foot of blowing snow on the way.. Stocked up on the fire wood, got some groceries, made sure to have a little liquor and cigars. Got gas for the JD snow blower. Checking to see that all cracks in the doors are sealed. I lived through the Blizzards of 77-78. Birds are fed with seed and extra suit. The youth of this generation has never seen anything like the old school winter storms. They think 8 inches of snow and a little wind is something. I hope you all stay safe and warm. Go Colts!

When you save for retirement is that a form of prepping? When the United States Government stockpiles billions of rounds of ammo, builds FEMA camps, orders tons and tons of MREs and freeze dried food are they considered whacky preppers? Just curious.

I dabble in it. Nothing crazy. Its like insurance for me. Its extremely low probability my house will go up in flames, but you better bet I have insurance on it.

Same thing with prepping. I doubt anything is gonna happen, but I have some insurance against it. Being active duty Army now, I really dont do anything anymore. Soldiers will eat first.

No, liberals call that a responsible government that cares for the citizens' well being and security, it's only crazy if the citizens do it.

I refer you to Matthew 24:36:

"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

So you prep in vain my friend.

Not to mention many of the foretold doomsday prophecies have not been fulfilled yet either.

Remember the Roman Empire? It won't take the second coming for things to get crazy.

Why prep. There is food walking around all around you.

I always have at least 2 months of dry food and the ability to purify water in case of a hurricane. Not worried about economic or social collapse. Those just aren't likely senarios, but having lived through a few hurricanes, things can get dicey if it is bad enough.

Love all the baffoons who think the country will always be safe and cozy for them and nothing can ever happen. It's not a question of if it will ever happen, but when. All countries collapse eventually, and with the way this one has been operating financially and politically, i can absolutely see it happening sometime over the next few years.

That being said, I haven't done anything drastic to prep for a "doomsday", but I have made quite a few firearm purchases and am stocking up on ammo. Everything else can be easily obtainable if you have the means to protect yourself from others. Weapons will be a #1 necessity if the shit really does hit the fan.

When hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast several years ago I laughed at all the fools running around looking for flash lights and provisions at the very last second. After the storm rolled through there were hundreds of thousands of families with out the basics for many weeks. People picking through dumpsters looking for food to eat.

Most houses were flooded to the point where everything got destroyed. The laugh is on you:lol::lol:

My "preps" are more common sense versus paranoia based. I have a large amount of reloading supplies because I shoot IDPA and want to not go without the next time a panic happens. It's also way cheaper than buying ammo. Not much in the way of food or escape pods though.
