Cram is under, Baldwin is under, hoping to be closer this race
only because Paxton was mentioned, and i was mentioned will I comment.
everyone knows in general turbos have less loss than a supercharger does. Bang for the buck, we can install, turn key @ 6199 a Paxton putting down close to 600 rwhp.
for 70% of the guys, this is all you will ever need. for the guys that want to do more, $6650, and on a race gas tune, make close to 700 with a good tune. I think the twin kit is around $8500 (without installation)
This is what I was going to mention. The inefficiency of the supercharger is put to the side when you are looking at goals compared to budget. Don't get me wrong I would love the twin turbo kit but if my goal is to have a street driven 10 sec car I don't have to spend that much money on a power adder when I can spend 30% less with a supercharger option.
Why not get a nitrous then? for under $1k you can go 10s easily.
i told you this. Do the same weight reduction you did when you were nitrous, and you will most likely run similar times... and wait until you can leave with more boost off the line... you'll be faster regardless.I love my turbo setup but as of right now, my car on nitrous was a LOT faster than turbo (consistent 10.30 car vs currently a 10.70 car). Constantly filling bottles did get old and having the power any time I need is a big plus. The nitrous was substantially easier to tune and get dialed in though, that is for sure.
Oh, and if you're having issues with your kit stalling, talk to your tuner. A properly tuned hellion tt will not stall(assuming you installed it correctly and have no leaks)
I like superchargers because they're easier to diagnose when stuff goes wrong. Generally easier to work on a supercharged car too. But that's me.
^ If you are so concerned about budget, you'd think you could work around those issues and go nitrous and save money?
Or is the "SC is cheaper than turbo" topic only brought up when people probe time after time that turbo > SC ?
I brought nitrous up because you guys mentioned pricing, cost, whp per $, etc. All that points at nitrous being the best idea... if you have half a clue of what you're doing, you can have a very consistent nitrous setup.
Also, if i was to go back to nitrous i would have either 4 bottles and go and refill them all at once... or just setup my own fill station at home.
If you want to get the most out of your SC setup, then you will want PROPER clamps, headers, torque booster, etc... then you are already at turbo kit prices.

plenty of guys running 10s on the kit the way it comes
obviously any supporting mods you can push further, just depends on how far you want to go
True. I mean the simplicity to install the SC, and the lower price point help the SCers quite a bit. If you have a $5k/$6k budget max, and all you want is to run 10s... then by all means, SC will be the easier and cheaper route.I went with the s/c because I already invested in headers, the price fit my budget, and I put a lot of miles on the car at the time I purchased the kit.

There is no perfect power adder. Each carries it's own unique set of advantages and disadvantages and allows the end user different ways of achieving their own personal form of victory.
I'm a nitrous guy at heart but I enjoy the turbos. Boost is fun but the instant hit of nitrous is also fun. I bet nitrous+turbo would be really fun. lol
Spoken like a true diplomat.
If i had as much money as everyone else on SVTP then i would throw away my $700 nitrous kit and buy a $7000 turbo kit but for right now ill keep spanking ass with the giggle juice.
